Villas and apartments in Italian towns and villages

April 11, 2008 by villaholidaysitaly

Many clients tell us they wish to rent a holiday villa or apartment in walking distance of a food shop or restaurant. Some have small children and want the peace of mind of knowing that they are close to facilities. Others don’t want to have to drive after a drink in the evenings. Yet they still want to be in the countryside, in self-catering rather than hotel accommodation. The ideal solution is to choose a villa or apartment in or very near, say within 1 km, of a small Italian town or village. We have a growing selection of these, both with private and shared pool. They are listed in a separate section on our website Villas and apartments in towns and villages. They all offer the following:

  • Walk to restaurants and shops
  • Close to facilities
  • No long car journeys to buy food and provisions
  • Live like a local and immerse yourself in the Italian lifestyle
  • Swimming pool on-site

As always we are here to advise on the properties which will suit you best.

Provisional bookings for 2009

April 9, 2008 by villaholidaysitaly

We’re already thinking ahead to 2009 season! We know that many of you like to plan your villa holiday in Italy a long time in advance, particularly if you are in a large group. We have many villas suitable for family holidays or large groups of friends. We have independent villas with private pool sleeping over 30 people!  Alternatively we can offer accommodation for even larger parties where individuals need more privacy, e.g. in farmhouse apartments where the party takes over a group of buildings and still has private use of all facilities (pool, grounds, tennis court etc.) This is often a good solution for wedding parties.

For many of our properties we are able to offer a provisional reservation for 2009 and will contact you again once the 2009 prices are available and the booking season open. The ideal way to secure that perfect villa for 2009.

Win a Gourmet Italian Food Hamper in our Holiday Photo Competition

November 2, 2007 by villaholidaysitaly

Why not put your feet up with a glass of wine, get out the Italian holiday snaps, pick your favourite and send a copy in to us?

To celebrate our 20 years of arranging villa holidays in Italy, we’re launching a photo competition open to everyone who has stayed at any of our rental properties. The theme of the competition is:

“The photo which best sums up my holiday in Italy”

We’re looking for pictures with a personal touch rather than professional photography, so you don’t have to be a David Bailey or a Lord Snowdon.

Please see our website http://www.onestopitaly.com/Photocompetition.htm for details of how to enter.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 11th January 2008.

Good Luck to all our customers!

Customer villa recommendations

September 28, 2007 by villaholidaysitaly

We’ve received so many comments and villa recommendations from clients over the years that we’ve decided to put them on our website One Stop Italy - It’s quite a long task and we’ll be adding to the list for some time yet! May I take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time to give us this feedback - you are much appreciated!

Villas for large family groups

September 18, 2007 by villaholidaysitaly

We have had a busy summer at One Stop Italy, so busy in fact that I haven’t had time to update this blog!  The wet weather here in the UK meant that there were a lot of last-minute enquiries for holidays in Italy - particularly as the temperatures there were in the 30s plus! As ever we are delighted to receive so many repeats and recommendations from previous clients, some of whom have booked with us so many times that they seem like old friends. (You know who you are ….)

Currently the big demand is for very large villa holidays with pool for large family groups for August 2008 , anything up to 30+. We have a good selection of very large villas, all with private pool and some even with the rarity of air-conditioning!   (Air-conditioning is difficult to find in Italian houses - many of them don’t need it as they are old farmhouses built of stone with thick walls and designed to keep the sun out. Electricity is also very expensive in Italy so owners think twice about installing air con - and in view of the need for us all to reduce our energy consumption who can blame them?)

Our advice is to let us know now if you need this size of property for summer 2008 - if you leave it until later you will find your choice of properties and dates restricted.

Villa holidays Italy 2008

June 6, 2007 by villaholidaysitaly

Are you planning a villa holiday in Italy for 2008? It’s not too early to book - we are already taking both confirmed and provisional reservations for next year. If you are looking for a big villa with private pool for a large party for July or August 2008, then we can give advice and recommendations from our portfolio of over 2500 houses. It’s important that this kind of holiday is booked around a year in advance, as availability in very large villas for peak weeks is limited. As always, we are here to guide you. Please take a look at our online brochures. If you are new to this kind of holiday, then our website One Stop Italy has lots of information to help you.

Protecting Italy’s historical treasures

May 15, 2007 by villaholidaysitaly

A recent BBC article has highlighted the costs of preserving Italy’s historical buildings for the next generation. It seems that the foundations of Rome’s ancient monuments are literally crumbling. Even global warming is playing its part, as water from freak rainstorms is seeping into the cavities caused by centuries of tunneling and digging. Read the full article here ….

It begs the question whether the protection of world heritage sites such as the Colosseum should be the responsibility solely of national governments ….
